The whole male population of Bulu« wayo met and protested against the Governor-General reprieving a native who had been sentenced to death for assaulting a white woman. One speaker pointed out that if Lord Gladstone had been assured that the Conditions in South Africa were the same as in England he must be brought to a, proper appreciation of the facts, otherwise the whites would take the law into their own hands.
