THE MAYORALTY.

Up to the present time, Mr C. Allison, Mr T. E. Taylor, M.P. f and Dr Thacker are the only candidates announced for the Mayoralty. Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., has been asked to be a candidate, but he stated yesterday that, after consideration, he had found that the work inseparable from the position would be too- heavy in view of the duties entailed by the other public positions he holds. Dr Thacker has announced his candidature by advertisement. He has boon a member of the City Council for two years, and at present is chairman of the Electric Light and Power Committee.
