CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY

The Christy.'htirch Presbytery met yesterday morning; present—Dr" Erwin (moderator), the Revs G. B. Inglis, T. Tait, J. Mackenzie. C. Murray." G. G. Howes. J. Pringlo. W. R. Campbell, J. 8. Roid, S. Robertson and Captain M'Lenn, elders. A motion was passed expressing regret at the death of the Rev I). J. Steele, and recording th" Presbytery's high appreciation of his Christian character, and 'jarnest and successful work. The Pev J. Craig was •appointed moderator ot the Raligiora district ad interim. A comnassion, which had visited the Kirwee and Halkett parish, reported that the proper place for a manse in the parish was at Kirwee. A motion that tho recommendation should become a deliverance of the Presbvterv was adoptfd. The Presbyterian Church Association wrote suggesting that the Presbvterv should takp into consideration the suggestions made by tho Rev T. Tait on tho matters of exchange of ministers pastoral visitations and the reaching of lapsed Presbyterians. Tl'.e Rev T. Tait, in a short address said that there was a narrowness <rrowing up thai, should be overcome, and he. moved that the city ministers should be constituted a committee to consider and report upon any possible increase of efficiency in connection with the work of city churches and the promotion of interchange of pulpits. Tha motion was carried, and Mr Tait was appointed convener. A motion was carried that tho travelling expenses of all commissioners should be paid out of the Presbytery expense fund, and that collection's should be taken up at inductions and visitations for tho Presbytery expense fund. It was also agreed that the assessment for Presbvterv expenses for 1911 should be 15s per £2OO of fitipend.
