T1 ! 0 chairman said that in May a special committee had been set up to consider the position in regard to the students attending tho College lectures and the Training College. Arrangements had been made now to allow students to attend junior lectures without interfering with lectures during their training. Ho was pleased to make the announcement, and to know that a .satisfactory arrangement had been come to.

A communication in regard to an inscription to be placed on the Captain Cook memorial was referred to a committee consisting of Dean Harper and Messrs Rowe and Acland. A communication was read from the Aetiiig-R<>gj s trn r of the New Zealand University, sotting forth a proposal that the calendars of the University Colleges should be combined. Tt was decided to reply, stating that tho Board endorsed the recommendation of the Professorial Board that, the suggestion should not he adopted. It was decided, on tho recr.mniondaiion of tho Museum and Library Committee, that the Board should affiliate with the Libraries Association of New Zealand ami should ho represented at future conferences; that tho reference library should bo kept open each evening until ten o’clock; and that tho resignation of Miss E. M. Byrne, assistant at. tho Public Library, should bo accepted with regret and that she should be allowed to ceaso duty on November 12.

Tho following recommendations of the College Committee wero adopted:— That Mr T. W. Cano should bo appointed to the position of assistant in English and Latin at Canterbury College at a salary of £290 per annum from tlie commencement of 1911: that tho resignation of Miss Mary Wills, teacher ot tho preparatory class at the Girls’ High School, should lie accepted, the resignation to take effect at tho end of tho present term, and the chairman should ho authorised to invite applications for the position : that Mr R. Biggar should ho appointed temporary assistant master at tho Boys’ High School for Rill at a salary of £250; that during 191.1 Mr T. W. Cano should be allowed to teach tho upper sixth class at tho Boys’ Higli School for two hours eacli morning at a remuneration at tho rate of £IOO a year, and that n. parttime master should bo appointed to take the remainder of Mr Cano’s work at the school at a salary at tho rate of £175 a year; that in future the lectures on pain-ontology should bo delivered by the lecturer on goologv. Tho committee reported that Mrs Mayne lind been appointed instructor in swimming at tho Girls’ High School. The resignations of Messrs A. Watt and .T- Cook members of the staff of tho Boys’ High School, wero accepted. The Board dealt with estimates for tho year in committee.
