GOVERNMENT METEOROLOGISrS FORECAST. Rev D. C. Bates's summary forecast: Heavr rain fell in many parts of the North Island or. Thursday night, and the weather has been squally and snowory in Vovcaust Strait, r.ud on the west ccast of the South Island to-dsy, but elsewjierc tho weather has improved. Strong westerly winds havo provailed. Present indications are _ for a slowly ri?ing barometer everywhere. South-westerly winds. Etrong to squally in the south, will probably prevail. Fair weather is probable northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and changca'xo weather elsewhere. Showery in many parts of the South Island. Mr Gideon Henderson. Port Levy, sent the following forecast last evening:—Strong south-west wind and rain in most parts, heavy ill the back country, with snow on the high levels, within twenty-four hours. MR PAULIN'S FORECAST. Mr Paulin's forecast, telegraphed yesterday afternoon, is as follows;—Squally north-west to south-west winds and thunder showers.
