Tho latter courso was decided on. but those on board were appalled when the vessel came to the Rip, which chopped up in great perpendicular whirling wails, the water rising and falling to and from enormous heights. The steamer was tossed like a cork, with the water crashing all over her. She gained shelter, however, but forty sheep on beard wore killed or drowned, though tho vessel herself was uninjured.
