LIQUOR IN THE KING COUNTRY.
HENARE KAIHAU'S FEARS. [Per Press Association.] TAIPU, June 14. Mr Kaihau, interviewed at liuntly, said that in view of tho enormous extension of European settlement in the King Country, ho did not see how the opponents of prohibition could fail to carry their point. There was an annual' proclamation forbidding tho introduction of liquor, but when the proclamation was made tho Natives owned three million acres of land in Rohcpotae, against half a million acres now. He would bo no party to the removal of the restriction, and the evil, if introduced, would owe its presence to the pakeha. who would have to bear the onus if disastrous results followed.
