[Pas Press Association-.] PALMERSTON, March 17. The Manawatu tenuis tournament commenced yesterday. Fisher, Prouse and Stow •wero the three most prominent players engaged in the semi-finals in the men’s championship singles. Prouse beat Fisher 9-4, the result being a surprise. Fisher is still in the men’s handicap singles. In the men’s championship doubles (first round), Fisher and Prouse beat Johnston and Phamzyn 9-0; Stow and Collins beat Wither and Waldegravo 9-2. The tournament was concluded to-day, in unfavourable weather.
