SCHOOL SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

ASHBURTON. Tho eighth annual sports meeting under the auspices of tho Ashburton Combined Schools’ Sports Association was held in the Ashburton domain yesterday. Heavy rain foil in tho morning, but before the commencement of the sports tho weather became fine. Tho competitors numbered 450, representing fifteen schools in tho Ashburton county. There wore fifty-three items on the programme, and these' were got off punctually to timo. During tho afternoon tho Ashburton Temperanco Band played selections. At tho close of tho sports the gifls from the Ashburton and Hampstead Schools gave a massed display of physical drill, and the Cadet corps also paraded and gave an exhibition of drill.
