MATCH AGAINST MANAWATU THIRTEEN. [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, March 16. Tho match Australia v. Manawatu thirteen commenced this . afternoon. Tho weather was overcast, but rain kept off. The ground was in good ordor. The wicket was, if anything, slightly heavy, but was not particularly difficult. Armstrong and Gorry did not play for the visitors. Bardsley won the toss, and sent Manawatu to the wickets. The innings of the home team closed for 87, after an hour and a half's play. Tho Australians had scored 48 for the loss of three wickets when play was stopped owing to the bad light. The following are the scores: — MANAWATU. First Innings. Carisbrook will provide a team, including Rutherford, Austin, Ramsden and possibly Siedoherg, to meet Linwood at Carisbrook on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. The annual cricket matches between the Government Departments and tho banks will bo commenced at Hagley Park at 10 a.m. to-day. The Rangiora Ladies' Club and tho Christchurch Ladies' Club played a match at Rangiora yesterday, which was won by tho visitors by 9 runs. Rangiora scored 30 (Miss I. Scott 11); Christchurch 39 (Miss Rose 14 and Miss Martin 10). In the second innings Rangiora made 39 for two wickets (Miss I. Scott retired 23). For Rangiora JMi&s Wilson took five wickets for one run and Miss I. Jones four for 24, and Misses Rosi- and Martin bowled htjst for Christchureh.
