COMMISSIONER DINNIE RESIGNS[From Oto Cokbespondknt.]
WELLINGTON, December 22. Sir Joseph Ward announced in tho House this morning that as a result of tho Police Commission the resignation of Commissioner Dinnio would be accepted. There was no reflection on his integrity, and he would receive six months' pay, but tho duties of the police were so important that it waa necessary to avoid further friction. No successor would be appointed,. but it was intended that the police force should remain, so far as the executive head was concerned, under the UnderSecretary of Justice. It would be proposed later to appoint a chief inspector of police, who would be under the control of the Under-Secretary of the. Justice Department. The Justice Department would be the administrative department connected with the police force.
