THE BERLIN BANK RATE. United Press Association —By Jiiecvriu Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 11. The Berlin bank rate has been raised to 5 per cent.

Wheat.—The total quantities of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom amount to 1,585,000 quarters, and for the Continent to 1,880,01)0 quarters. Atlantic shipments are 271,000 quarters and from Pacific ports 100,000 quarters, The total shipments to Europe for the week were 1,680,000 quarters. Argentine shipments were nil. LONDON, October 12. Copper.—Spot, £57 os; three montns', £SB ss; electrolytic, £SS li3s. Tin.—Spot, £l3B os; tliree months', £3B 10s. SHIPPING. LONDON, October 12. Sailed—Kaipara, for Ne* Zealand. The following is a copy of a cablegram received by Dalgety and Company from London, dated October 11: " Frozen Mutton and Lamb—The consumptive demand is limited, but stocks are concentrated in few hands and prices are higher by Jd to id per lb since our last telegram, owing to manipulation on the part of speculators. Unless the consumptive demand improves, it is doubtful if the advance can be long enforced in view of large supplies of Home and Dutch meat." The New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London office : —Mutton ■—Market advancing.
