MR LLOYD-GEORGE'S SPEECHES.
NEWSPAPER COMMENT. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 11.
The Opposition newspapers say that Mr Lloyd-George's Newcastle speech was worse than that delivered at Limehouse, and declare it was the speech of a demagogue, and a deliberate attempt to set class against class. The "Chronicle" and "Daily News" compare the speech with Mr Chamberlain's in his Radical days.
Many newspapers denounce Mr LloydGeorge's incendiary speech. The "Pall Mall Gazette" exposes what it describes as rnetorical falsehoods, and infers that Mr Lloyd-George challenges the right of everyone to inherit anything which is not due to personal exertion.
Other Unionist papers complain of Mr Lloyd-George's vindiotiveness. The Radical papers rejoice at the prospect of the undutiful rich being made to contribute their share to the exchequer. The " Manchester Guardian " considers the speech first rate. HOUSING AND TOWN PLANNING BILL. MINERS' REPRESENTATIVES. (Received October 12, 10.2 p.m.) LONDON, October 12. The House of Lords passed the Housing and Town Planning Bill. The Earl of Crewe stated that if certain of the amendments made by the House of Lords wore eventually included, the Government would not proceed with the measure. The Northumberland Miners' Election Committee have taken steps which will deprive Mr Burt and Mr Fenwick of the miners' vote. They will, therefore, have to stand a 9 Liberals.
