High Commissioner, dated July (i, says:—"Tho wool sales commenced with a' largo attendance and good competition, values were at the same price as at the end of last sale, except for inferior coarse cross-bred, which is a. Jd cheaper. Present prices ruling are:—Superior merino, Is Id to Is- 3id: medium merino, 11 Jd to Is o|d ; inferior merino, i)d to 11 td; fine cross-breds, all grades. Is Id to Is 11d ; medium cross-breds, alt grades, IOJd to Is 2d; coarse crossbreds, all grades, 7d to lljd.

Cablegrams in reference to the,London wool -.sales woro received yesterday by Christchurcli firms from their London offices. The messages are as follows : New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company :—-There was a full attendance at. the opening of the sales to-day, competition by American buyers being good, and prices as compared with the close ol the. preceding series ruled about the same, except, for shabby and wasty cross-breds, which are easier. The catalogues were fairly representative. Cross-bred slipo is 5 per cent lower.

National Mortgage and Agency Com-pany:—Cross-breds, fine, opened on par with last sales' closing rates. American buyers operating freely; slipes, o per cent decline; merinocs, medium and coarse cross-breds, par to o per cent decline.

New Zealand Farmers' Co-ope rat if o Association:—Wool sales opened today, and prices as compared, with closing rates of last series are: Merino, par: line cross-bred, par: merino and coarse cross-bred, par; inferior quality antLslipoSj 5 per cent cheaper. Messrs Dalgoty and Company:—Tho fourth series of wool sales opened today with a large, attendance of buyers and fairly animated competition. There irasN a poor selection, and hardly any merino wool was offered. As compared with closing rales of last series, prices of shabby, greasy, coarse cross-bred and slipo wools arc o per cent lower. Other descriptions aro unchanged.
