Tlie cablegrams received on Thursday announcing that wheat, which has i been steadily advancing in value since the beginning of the year, when the average price on the British market was under 30s, had been sold in some of the English provincial markets at prices up to 60s per quarter, coupled with the advance in America and tho Commonwealth, must servo to gladden the heart's of colonial growers, the great majority of whom have not yet disposed of their holdings, and who last season gathered crops beyond the average. It is interesting to recollect that is is more than thirty years since the price of wheat on the British market reached such a high level, and at the present juncture it is instructive to look back and sec how wheat has been selling in tho Old Country since preNapoleonic times.
