A discussion arose concerning a report that amendment® to the playing rules that had been made by the English Association had been adopted, by some local Associations before they had been officially ratified by the New Zealand Association. Mr Doig, on behalf of the Southland Association, moved—“ That the New Zealand Hockey Association secede from the New Zealand Sports Federation.” Mr Nordou said that as a representative on the Sports Federation ho felt it incumbent on him to make an explanation. In-the interests of discipline and to ensure clean sport, the Cricket Council had taken a very firm stand, and he thought the Hockey Association should take an equally strong stand and support the Sports Federation. He suggested that it would be best to refer the matter to the consideration of the executive. Mr Doig said that in view of Mr Nordon’s explanation he would withdraw his motion and leave it to + he executive to deal with the matter. The motion was withdrawn.
