BOROUGH COUNCILS.

WOOLSTON. An ordinary meeting of the Woolstou Borough Council was held on Monday; present—The Mayor (Mr J. Richardson), and Councillors Sherwood, Bell, Cooksley, Lester, Ozanuo, Round and Baker." The Finance Committee reported tliat the receipts since the previous meeting had boon £154 18s lid. There was a debit balance of £l3B 9s lOd .and temporary loans amounting to £905. The loan account was in credit £BO 8s 2d, and there was £2OOO on deposit. Accounts were recommended for payment on the loan account for £162 9s Id, and on the district fund account for £ll2 18s 7d. It was decided not to be represented at the hearing of 'the general labourers' disputo. The Woolston Quoits Club was granted permission to play in the Recreation Ground. It was decided to grant Messrs Bowron Bros, permission to shift a boiler by traction engine. The clerk was instructed to communicate, with tho local bodies interested regarding the removal of the old Heathcote swingbridge. The Woolston Schpol Committee was authorised to open a gate from the school ground to Coronation street. A special order making a special rate for security for the recreation loan was confirmed. A vote of thanks was passed to the Mayor for the courteous manner in which he had conducted the business of the Council. SUMNER. The Sumner Borough Council met last evening; present—Messrs E. Denham (Mayor), J. W. Lill, E. G. Wood, C. S. Gill, S. H. Andrews, J. Maffey, G. Bruer and A. Scott. Permission was ; granted to the Sumner Old Boys Football Club to use St Leonard's Square : during the football season. received that tho Council's special loan of £4OOO had been gazetted. It was decided to inquire when tho money i could be obtained. The Lighting Committee recommended that Mr A. Ford's report in favour of a municipal gas scheme should be adopted in toto: Councillor Andrews moved that the whole matter of the gas scheme, including all reports, should be'submitted to the incomi/r Council. The motion was "lost, only Councillors Andrews. Bruer and Maffey voting for it, and the recommendation was adopted. Accounts for £253 3s 6d were passed for payment.
