[Per Press Association.] GISBORNE, April 2?.. . Mrs Reid's store at Tologa Ba> has been by fire. Nothing was savedT The cause of the fire is unknown. Insurances: £6OO on the stock in the Norwich Union Office, and £250 on the building in the Liverpool and London and Globe Offico.

PALMERSTON NORTH, April 28. Shortly before midnight last night a fire broke out in Malcolm's furnishing warehouse in the Square, starting in a workshop at the back, where large quantities of tow and varnish were stored. For some time the blaze was confined to one corner of the building, but columns of black smoke rising from the roof told of the hold the flames had within. The brigade commenced operations from the rear, and though at one time it looked as if the fire would spread, it managed to confine the conflagration to Malcolm's premises. These were practically destroyed at the rear, the frontage being less damaged. The whole stock, valued at £4OOO, was seriously injured by fire and water. The brigade worked hard and well, but it was not till about 1 a.m. that the fire was . extinguished. The bunding bolonged to Mr Childs, of the Commercial Hotel, who had only recently acquired it. It was insured for £750 in the Alliance Office. The stock was insured for £IBSO, £SOO each in the New Zealand, Norwich Union and Standard Offices, and £350 in the Alliance Office. The "Standard" Office next door was uninjured. ASHBURTON, April 28. A house owned and occupied _bv Mr J. H. Stewart at Chertsey, with its contents, was, in the temporary absence of the occupants, totally destroyed by fire this morning. Only a few articles' of clothing were saved. ( It is understood that the houso is insured in the Norwich Union Office for £225, but the loss is considerpbly above this. TIMARU, April 28. The insurances on Radcliffe's factory are—£3oo on the stock and on the building. Tho loss is estimated at £l5O on tho building and £IOO on the stock.
