Frozen Meat.—The Frozen Meat Trades Association’s Smithflekl market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than 100 carcases of mutton or lamb or twenty-five carcases of beef of fair average quality. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, April 24: ■ , Frozen Meat.—Mutton —The market is depressed, and exceeds the demand, except in the case of light weight, whioh is extremely scarce. Stock is accumulating, and it is reported that there is no room in,store for more. Prospects ere unfavourable, and the trade in mutton is very disappointing, there being only a very hand to moutfy demand. Canterbury, 3d; North Island, 2Jd. Lamb—The market is weak; stocks on hand are heavy and widely distributed amongst agents, who are pushing sales; Canterbury, 4*id; North Island, 4 id. Beef—The market is quiet and there is no change in. prices, which are—Hindquarters, 3j|d; forequarters, 2id. , Butter. —’The market is quiet but steady' with a better demand for best quality and a poorer demand for inferior quality; choicest New Zealand, 109 s; Danish, 108 s; Siberian, 98s; Aus-. tralian, 975; Argentine, 98s. Cheese.—The market is rather quiet; coloured, 635; white, 61s per cwt. The Papanui s shipment of cheese arrived in a damaged condition. Hempy—Th© market is quiet, but holders are firm for New Zealand or account of the small supply; good fair, on spot, £23 10s per ton; New Zealand, fair , grade on spot, £22 per ton. ; fair current Manila, £22 per ton; April-June shipments, good fair grado, £23; fair grade, £2l 10s; fair current Manila, £2l 10s. The Manila output lor the week was 18,000 bales. Grain and Pulse.—The wheat market remains firm, but the advance is checked and prices have declined 3d per bushel. There is a brisk demand for oats, but beans ore scarce, and for these the market is firm, as well as for peas, ond prices continue to advance. Cocksfoot.—The seed market is steady at 80s, with a firm market for all grades. V
