SATURDAY’S MATCHES POSTPONED. Saturday was to have been the opening day of the Canterbury Rugby Union’s competitions, but the incessant rain caused a postponement of all matches. This was hailed with satisfaction by most of the players, because it was certain that, even if the weather had cleared on Saturday morning, the f rounds would have been soaked by 'riday’s rain, and in the circumstances good play would have been out of the question.
