LAWRENCE-ROXBURGH RAILWAY.

[From Ode Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, April 24. The Mayor this afternoon received the following telegram from the Prime Minister having relation to the Law-rence-Roxburgh railway. I shall be glad to receive a deputation on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Grand Hotel. I presume you quite recognise that for the purpose of conveying any representations to me, the idea of a large gathering, which I judge from your telegram is in your mind, is quite unnecessary. In addition to the representatives of your city, I shall, of course, he glad to receive a delegate from each of the districts interested if desired.” [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, April 24. Speaking at Roxburgh last night in connection with the stoppage of the Lawrence-Roxburgh. railway Mr James Allen, M.P., stated that Mr Roberts, the owner of Teviot estate, had decided to subdivide it into 500-acre farms,' reserving 1000 acres for the homestead. The meeting decided to collect statistics to prove to the Cabinet that the railway would pay if constructed in a businesslike manner.
