REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Referees' Association was held last evening; present—Messrs R. H. Saunders (in the chair), H. S. J. Goodman, F. Freeman, J. C. Cooper, H. Firman, TV. E. Burley, L. Cueworth, D. Lowrie and TV. Johnson (secretary). The annual report stated that tho Association had had a very successful season. The membership had increased and now stood at forty. The demand for referees for Saturday afternoon was still far in excess of the supply. So far as the Thursday competition was concerned, the matter was not of so much moment, as there wero occasionally referees disengaged upon that day. During the past season the interest of members had not been so keen ’as could have been desired. Two conferences had been held between tho Association and delegates from the teams entered for the various competitions, and as a result a much better understanding existed between the players and the members of tho Association. i Tho financial statement showed that many members were in arrears with their subscriptions, the receipts for the season totalling only -15 s, while 65s was still outstanding. Messrs H. Goodman and G. K. Barnett wero elected members of the Association, and the resignation of Mr R. Vincent, was received. The following officers were elected President, Mr" R. H. Saunders; vicepresidents, Messrs J. C. Cooper and TV. E. Burley; secretary and treasurer, Mr TV. Johnson; auditors, Messrs L. Burley and I/. Cusworth; appointments committees: Thursday, Messrs G. E. Good and J. C. Cooper; Saturday, Messrs L. Cusworth, G. Burley and G. Hunter.
