MELBOURNE, May 12, Mr Deakin has been officially advised that Sydney will be the first port of call of the American fleet in the Commonwealth. The fleet will arrive on August 20, and leave on August 27. It will afterwards »pend a week at Melbourne. SYDNEY, May 12. Cable advices received have been that coal for the American squadron is being shipped from America to Sydney. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, May 12. It was recently advanced in Wellington as a reason why the American fleet should visit Wellington, that it would bo practically impossible to coal the fleet in. Auckland. Inquiries show that tho requirements can easily be met in Auckland as cheaply as in Wellington.
