AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. There was a very large audience ac the Opera House last evening, and the entertainment given by Fuller's Vaudeville Company was well received. The programme was characteristically good, and included some very bright and entertaining items. The vocal numbers were all pleasing, and were well received. Among the most popular of the other items were the acrobatic turn of Pastor and Merle, the tight-rope walking of Mr Hugh Lloyd, and tho Marionettes. The programme will be repeated this evening, and a competition for ambitious tight-rope walkers will be begun.

"THE BLUE MOON." Mr J. C. Williamson's new Musical Comedy Company will open the new Theatre Royal on, Tuesday, February 25. "The Blue Moon," the opening production, will be staged for three nights. The play is said to be marked by gaiety and and to give comedians and singers many opportunities to display their abilities. /The production has been praised for the elaborateness of its dressing and scenery and the inclusion in the action of some pretty, ballets. Following " The Blue Moon " a new and original 1 musical play, " Lady Madcap," will be presented. It has been a popular production in other places. Other productions during the season will bo "The Little Michus," "Tho Girl from Kay's," and "Three Little Maids." The box plans for the season will be opened at Messrs Milner and Thompson s on Thursday morning.

MACMAHON'S PICTURES. A large audience was entertained.by Messrs Macmahon Bros at Kaiapoi last evening with an excellent display of biograph pictures. The "Robbery Under Anns series was warmly applaud-' ed. This evening an ontertainment; will be given at the Institute Hall, Rangiora, and an entertainment at Lyttelton to-morrow evening will closo the South Island season.

WIRTH'S CIRCUS. Messrs Wirth Bros will open a cirens season at the King Edward Barracks on Monday evening. Since they last visited Christchurch the proprietors of the circus have made a great many additions to their company, and they will present fifteen new artists. A feature of the performances will be a display by Herr Batty with a number of animals from Hen- Hagenbeok's famous " zoo." Six lions, a number of leopards and bears, and two bora-hounds will take part in a series of tableaux.

WAINONI PARK. On Thursday a full programme of amusements will b© provided at Wainoni Park. The fireworks display will contain many novelties, and the Chinese pirates scene will be repeated for tho last time.
