THE WEATHER.

The meteorological records made at the Ashburton Domain weather station during January show that the highest roading of the barometer was 30.5, and the lowest 29.5. The highest temperature in the shade was 99.9 deg, and the lowest 41deg. Tho rainfall amounted to 1.28 in. At Alford the rainfall was 1.71 in, at Carew 1.55 in, and at Winchmore 1.41 in.

The amount of rainfall registered at Lynton Downs during January was l.*39in. Rain fell on oight days, the heaviest fall being .59in on January 17. The rainfall at Geraldine for January was 1.32 in. The maximum temperature in the shade was lOldog on January 8. The total rainfall at Fairlie during January was 1.15 in. Rain fell on six days, the heaviest fall being .69in on January 16. The rainfall for the month is a good deal below the average, which for the past ten years is 2.682 in. The lowest reading of the thermometer last month was 30dog, and tho highest 108 deg in the shade.
