ENTERTAINMENTS.

On November 15 a benefit entertainment, arranged by the Rangiora Oddfellows' Lodge, was given at the Oust Institute Hall, in aid of Brother J. Carter who has been incapacitated for a long time through illness. Brother J. Marshall, deputy-Grand Master ot New Zealand, presided, and there was a fairly numerous audience. The programme, • arranged by Brother G. Gibbs Jordan, gave great satisfaction, most of the numbers being encored. P ian ?" forte duets were played by Mies i>. V. Jennings and Mr Gibbs J?rdan, choruses and quartets were contributed by the Oddfellows' Glee Party, songs by Misses M. Luxton and E. Gulliver, Brothers A Mitchell, H. 0. Wilson, D. Mehrtens, G. Bell and W. Luxton, and a vocal duet by Mrs Jordan and Miss Horrell. Brother T. Hills also took part in the programme, and Brother Jordan played the accompaniments. The chairman announced that a large number of tickets had been sold throughout the district, and the financial results of the concert would be very satisfactory. Brother H. Tallott proposed a vote of thanks to the performers, who were afterwards entertained at supper by Brother Kennedy. On Wednesday evening an entertainment in aid of the Sunday School prize fund was given in the Kaiapoi Anglican schoolroom. The children gave a number of items in excellent style. Votes of thanks to those who had assisted were carried on the. mo»fcion of the Rev J. Holland.
