Mr Clarke, father of the New South Wale 3 House, has died at the age of eighty-five. He represented Eden for thirty-three years. "THE FATHER OF THE SCOTS." . [Peh Press Association.] WHANGEREI, November 23. Simon Fraser, known throughout the north as "the father of the Scots," died last night, aged eighty-five. He came to the colony from Assynt, Suth«rlandshire, sixty years ago. He was first on the Ballarat goldfields. and afterwards opened up the goldfields in Otago. He several times petitioned for compensation on the latter account.
