The Wharf; Labourers' Conference decided to-day to urge the Government to institute a quarterly inspection of ihips' wharf-gear; further, to urge the Government to amend the Harbours' Act, in the direction of providing buildings for the exclusive use of men employed at each port with hot and cold Water baths and lockers. • BURNSIDE SLAUGHTERMEN. [Peb. Pbess Association.] DUNEDIN, July 23. An agreement has been arrived at between the Slaughtermen's Union and the proprietors of the Burnside Freezing works (Ohristohurch Meat Company). FEDERATION OF SLAUGHTERMEN. [Prat Pbess Association.] DUNEDIN, July 23. It is understood that a proposal ia •n, foot for the federation of the Slaughtermen's Unions of New. Zealand. The proposal originated in Wellington, where a conference is likely to be held at an early date. The Otago Slaughtermen's Union has approved of the federation, and will be represented At the conference.
