COUNTY COUNCILS.

GERALDINE. The monthly meeting of the Geraldine County Council was hold on Thursday; present—Messrs J. Talbot (chairman), S. Wright, B. R. Macdonald, A. Kelman, 6. J Dennistoun and A. Metcalf. A letter was received from the overseer of the Temuka Road Board drawing attention to three water-race crossings that required repairs. It was decided to ask the Read Boards in the County to take over the water-race crossings. The clerk of the Winchester Domain Board wrote making a second appeal for a refund of rates said to have been paid in error to the Council. It was resolved that the Council could not depart from its former decision. It was agreed that the Road Boards should be warned that boys were recovering poisoned birds from plantations and selling the heads at 9d a dozen, thus causing the Boards to pay twice for the destruction of the birds. Accounts amounting to £4SI 15s 8d were passed for payment.
