THE LATE MISS BALDWIN.
THE FUNERAL. The funeral of the lute Miea Kate Baldwin, who for many years was headmistress of the East Christchurch School, took place yesterday at the Sydenham Cemetery, the Von Archdeacon Scott officiating. The funeral cortege, which left the residence of the lady’s father, was a long one, and there were in it representatives of the Education Booi'd and the New Zealand Educational Institute. The Sixth Standard class of the East Christchurch School, under Mr S. 0. Given, preceded the
coffin, and the pall-bearers were teachers from the school. The Education Board's office was closed from 11 a. in, to 2 p.m., as a mark cf respect, and the school children of the East Christchurch School, where Misa Baldwin had been headmistress until compelled to relinquish that post on leave of absence, were diamisaod for the half-day. At many of trie town and suburban schools flags were at half-mast.
