TRAMWAY COLLISION.
CROSSING PLACE OVER-RUN. Shortly after 9.30 a.m. yesterday, a Collision occurred, on the Worcester Street tramline, near the intersection of Barhadoes Street. The electric tram from Lihvvood is tabled to pass the Burwqod tram at that time opposite the Christchurch bowling green. The Burwood steam tram was, however, late, »nd the electric oar driver, instead of waiting at 'the accustomed crossing turn-out till the steam tram arrived, attempted to reach the loop at Manchester street. Scon after crossing Barbadoos Street, however, the driver saw the steam car coming towards 'him. His view had hitherto been obstructed by the mist, but as soon as the approaching caroamo in sight, ho stopped his tram. The steam tram could not be stopped in time, owing to the greasy track, and ran into the electric oar. Fortunately, its speed war. so far checked that no great harm was done. No one was hurt, and only the lighter parts of the electric car, including the forward glass shelter, were badly broken.
