ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

A special meeting of the Acclimatisation Society wae held last evening, _Mr G. Whitesides presiding, to consider motions to alter tho rules. It was docided to alter the constitution to include among the objects of the Society the protection of native game and birds. It was also agreed that nominations for the Council of tho Society should be lodged seven days befor« the annual meeting. It was agreed to alter the existing rule- to provide that members of the Society should be either life mombers or ordinary members; that ordinary members should pay a subJicriptiorx of 5a annually, but auy_ person, who <ihould have taken cut either a nulling or a shooting licence of £l, or license to shoot stag.;, during anyye'ir ending March 20, should be entitled, upon application accompanied by Is, to be enrolled aa a member of the Society for the following year, provided that tho application was made before March 20; that contributors at any one tima of £lO or upwards should bo life mombers of tho Society, and any person who might render special services to the Society by oontributioiw of stock or otherwise, should be eligible for life membership, and might be elected as finch by tho' Council or at any goiiri-al meeting, tlio annual subscription to be payable to the treasurer in advunca, on or before March '2O in each year.
