AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. There was a good attendance at the Opera House last night, when Fuller's Variety Company presented a capital entertainment of mixed vaudeville items. Mr T. Armstrong and Miss Priscilla Verne were seen at their best in the farcical comedy, "Colonel Kotchup." The A'hlbergs were responsible fcr a clever balancing act, and Monaghan and Sheehan supplied a pretty musical turn. A long list of other performers filled out a capital mixed programme. To-morrow night there will be the usual complete change of programme. THE POPULAR CONCERTS. There was a very good house downstairs at the Choral Hall last night on tho occasion of the second of tho popular con carte, and upstairs there was a fairly representative audience. The concert itself was a distinct success. The illustrated songs were specially good. Tho vocalists were Miss Eva Field, Mrs J. Hopkins, and Messrs J. C. M'Lean, J. Hopkins, C. O'Keefe and W. Coleman, whilst Mr W. M'Lean contributed an acceptable clarionet solo. The part-singing during tho evening wag specially pretty, but all tho performers acquitted themselves well. The concerts have apparently established themselves in publie favour, and bid' fair to bo a standing feature of the winter's entertainments. MR ANDREW MACK. An interesting season of Irish drama will be inaugurated at the Theatre Royal on Monday evening by Mr Andrew Mack and hia company of players, who will appear here for the first time. Tho tour is under tho direction of Mr J'. C. Williamson, and has throughout the North Island been one continuous success. "Tom Moore," the play selected for tho first production in Christehurch, is said to bo one of considerable charm, and eminently suited to display the company at its best. CHRISTCHTJRCH MUSICAL UNION. The first concert of the season of the Musical Union will be given on Tuesday, June 11, when Mr Alfred Hill's cantata, " Binsmoa," and C. Villiera Stanford's cantata, "The Revenge," a ballad of tho Fleet of 1591, with part songs, will form tho programme. The first concert is unavoidably late on account of the Exhibition and the absence of some members of the orchestra owing to their engagement in tho Exhibition Orchestra. Tho soloists engaged are Mrs Burns, Messrs P. Hockley, G. March and S. Hawker. I WATNONI PARK. The last entertainment of this season is being prepared at Waiuoni. It will I bo shown on Monday, and will take the shape of a brilliant representation of a naval battle.
