MELBOURNE BUILDING TRADES. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, January 31. Mr Justice Cussen delivered an. award as the result of a conference between .masters and men in the building trades. The award, which is binding for six months, maintains the'hours at forty-eight weekly, but increases wages to the extent of from a penny to throehalfpence per hour. AUCKLAND TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES. A ballot taken by the Auckland Tramway Employees’ Union as to whether the company’s terms should be accepted in lieu of the dispute being referred to the Arbitration Court has resulted in the rejection of the acceptance of the terms by a majority of 19. At a, meeting of-newspaper pioprietors, bold here to-day, it was proposed to organise a movement to separate country districts from the city of Wellington and to constitute a new industrial district for country workers and employers.
