UNION STEAMSHIP COMPANY’S FLEET. FRlDAY.—Rotomahana and Te Anau arrive from Wellington, and leave on return trip. Moeraki arrives frrm Sydney, vit Wellington, and leaves for Melbourne, via southern ports. Rosamond arrives from Greymouth. The brigantine Aratapu sailed for Kaipara at 4.5 a.m. yesterday. • Yesterday the s.s. Mararoa arrived from Wellington at 8 a.m., and the s.s. Pateena from the same port at 10.6 a.m. They brought 464 passengers to Lyttelton. The Tyser s.s. Indralema, which is still under the command of Captain Trotter, arrived from New York, via Australian ports, Auckland and Wellington, at 9 a.m. yesterday, when she was berthed at No. 6 jetty to discharge 560 tons of cargo. She is to leave hero this afternoon for Dunedin, where she will finish unloading. She will then load it New Zealand ports for London. The Union Steamship Company’s new s.s. Kaiapoi paid her first visit to Lyttelton yesterday, arriving at 5.55 a.m. from Greymou'.h, via Timaru, with part cargo of coal and timber. After discharge she is to leave on Saturday for Greymouth. The Kaiapoi is a similar vessel to the Kaituna, and was brought to Lyttelton by Captain Graham, who is to hand her.over hero to Captain Robinson. Mr Robiiliard has joined the Union Steamship Company’s s.s. Arahura as third officer. Mr G. G. Robertson has transferred from the "Waikare to the Warrimoo as second officer. Captain Tate, who has taken command of iho To Anau, has Mr J. F. Brown as chief officer. Captain Backstrom has joined tho Torgauten as mate in place of Captain Waddilove. The New Zealand Shipping Company's s.s. Wakanui, now in the south, is expected to leave Wellington for London about the th rd week in February. She is being despatched in time to catch the May wool sales. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s s.s. Whakatane is expected to sail for London from Lyttelton on Feb uary 6. The " Otago Daily Times ” states that the Wakanui was expected to be aill clear rf her Dunedin cargo yesterday, and proceeded to Port Chalmers for Homeward foading. On •completion she sails thence for the Bluff and Lyttelton, having on board Home cargo for ' poth porta. It is announced that the Union Steamship Company’s s.s. Hawes is to take up the Poherua's running in the West Coast trade. According to latest advices received by the Union Company’s head office (says the "Otago Daily Times ”), it is expected that its now steamer Komata will be ready for launching on February 12. and will probably be ready for her trial trips about six weeks later. The s.s. Tarawera haying been laid up for a spell, Captain Hutchings proceeds to Wellington to take command of the Mcura. Mr Ritchie, who has been* acting chief on tho s.s. Tarawera. has been appointed chief officer of the s.s. Wanaka, and Mr J. Ryan, third officer of the Tarawera. transfers to a similar position on the s.s. Mokoi». Whilst in dock at Port Chalmers, the s.s. Storm was fitted with a new rudder stem, her rudder post was temporarily repaired md strengthened, and where bulged her hull plates ■ were strengthened, in addition to which several hundred rivets were renewed in her horiom plates. Meanwhile a new stern frame is being made for tho vessel, and will bo placed in po?it : ou on a future visit to Port Chalmers. The work of repairing the vessel was carried cut by Messrs Stevenson and Cook, under the supervision of Mr Morrison (L’ovd’s insnect- r). The Shaw, Savill and Alb’on Company has placed an order for a new steamer with Messrs Workman, Clark and Co., Belfast. The new vessel is to be similar in every respect to the company's steamer Mamari. and ia to be ready to sail for this colony about tho end of October next. The Westport Coal Comnany’s s.s. Canopus

is to leave Lyttelton this afternoon for Westport. ' _ Tho Huddart-Parker Company’s s.s. Riverina is to arrive from Melbourne, via southern ports this morning, and to leave for Sydney, via Wellington, this evening. The Tyser s.s. Indraghiri is expected to arrive from Liverpool, via northern ports tomorrow. She goes from here to Dunedin. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s s.s. Waiwera, which left Lyttelton for Wellington last night, is expected to leave there for London to-morrow evening. She will be a full ship. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s s.s. Rimutaka is expected to arrive at Lyttelton this afternoon from Napier, to load correa for London. The s.s. Mana is to arrive here from Wellington this morning, in outer to load for Pntea, for which _port- she will .eavo Lyttelton this evening. The s.s. Wakatu, which was to have returned to Lyttelton fiom Beat Harbour, will not do so, having been delayed there by the weather. She has gone to Wellington, via Kaikcum, and will probably come to Lyttelton ab ut Monday next. The s.s. Mararoa left for Wellington at 6.35 p.m., the s s. Waiwera for London, via Wellington, at 7.20 p.m., the s.s. Pateena for Wellington nt 11.30 p.m., and the s.s. Cygnet for Kaikoura at 8.40 p.m. yesterday. The s.s.
