The Rev R. S. Gray and Mr E. Nordon arrived trom Wellington yesterday. • Professor Haslam, who is the' president of the local branch of the Navy League, was prevented by a sudden seizure of illness from attending the Trafalgar Day celebration on Wednes- . day. • Mr C. M. Harris (Farnborough, England) went south yesterday. ‘‘ Among the arrivals from Wellington yesterday were Messrs R. Richards and F. G. Gerard. Mr J. C. Maddison arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Mararoa yesterday. Mr A. G. Melville (Dunedin) was a passenger for Hanmer yesterday. Drs Hargreaves and W. Anderson left for Wellington by the s.s. Mararoa last evening. A telegram from Auckland states .that Mr M. Kirkbride, M.H.R., who has been ill for earns time past, has taken a turn for the worse, and has been removed to a private hospital, where he lies in a critical condition. \ He ie suffering from the bursting of a blood-vessel in the neck.
