The report of the Director of *he Labour Department for April shows that there had been a brisk demand for labour, while the number, of unemployed in the city had been comparatively low. THEFTS OF GOLD. PERTH, May 14. Gold has been stolen from the Golden Polo, mine, at Kalgoorlie, for tome months past, and,at least five hundred ounces have been missed which is said to have been lodged in the bank. The perpetrators have not been discovered, EXECUTIONS. BRISBANE, May 14. A Cingalese, Johannes, for the murder of a policeman at Mackay, and Twadega, a South Sea Islander, for the murder of a boy near Mackay, were executed to-day. Death in both cases was instantaneous.
