A locomotive fireman, named Alexander Allen, employed by the Government, met with a shocking accident at Petonc. He was picking up a couplinghook, when he slipped off the footboard, and one of the wheels of tho engine passed over his right foot, completely, severing it at the ankle. A three-year-old child, named Leutliwaite, Avas admitted to the Hospital early yesterday morning, suffering from a fractured jaw. The injury was caused by a kick from a hors© at Cheviot, on Saturday morning, and although the case was treated locally, pending removal to the Hospital, the case is very painful, the face having been badly out.
