CYCLING.

At a meeting of the general committee of the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club, held on Monday, Mr W. E. Thompson presiding, it was decided that, in connection with the motor-ear competition to he held on Thursday afternoon, on the Cashmere Hills, the start should be from a point orT the Valley Road, about one chain from the

foot of the hill, cars to be stationary with engines going, and that one finishing pest, the Convalescent Home gate, should bo used for all thro© competitions, namely—bicycle, motor cycle and ear. Nine entries have been received for the motor-cycle contest, for wlrcli only one attempt will bo allowed to ascend tho hill. Pedalling will disqualify. Eighteen have nominated for the bicycle competition, and this will be run off in pairs, and only recognised roadster tyres will be allowed. At a meeting held at Lceston on Alonday evening it was decided to hold a bicycle road race from Leeston to Springstoh and back on November 3. During the evening a number of officers were appointed in connection with the race. Tho annual meeting of this Belfast Cycling and Athletic Club was held on October 24. Thor© was a good attendl- - of members, and Air R. White was in the chair. The annual report showed, that the dub was in -a very good position financially.
