Mr A. Forrester Paten and Mr J. Forrester Paten, visitors from Scotland, are in Christchurch. Mr V/. W. Bruce, Mir R. D. Low and Mr G. Pitt arrived from Wellington yesterday. The Rev Harold Purohas, of Mount Sotmers, has been appointed to the cure of St John’s, Christchurch. ' Mr Claude Whaito, who is representing tho Brough Comedy Company, arrived in town yesterday to make arrangements for th© Christchurch season, which will-.open on November 3. Yesterday, at a meeting of th© North Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union, Mr J.v O’Hailomn made reference to the valuable services rendered by the late Mr C. DampiereGrossley while president of th© Waikari branch. Ho moved that a letter of condolence should be sent to Mra DampiereGroseley. Th© motion was seconded by Mr J. G. Ruddenklau, and was carried unanimously.
