DIOCESAN SYNODS.

CHRISTCHURCH. The. Synod of the Anglican Diodetse of Christchurch resumed its sessions’ at Christ's College Library at 8 p.m. yesterday. The Bishop moved the first of his motions to fix new 'boundaries for thie parishes of' St Michael’s, St Luke’s, Sydenham, OpaWa, Avo-nisida, Fendalton and Riecarton. On behalf of the Select Committee appointed to consider petitions and other matters in connection with the boundaries, Archdeacon Harper moved an -amendment, proposing that the boundary of St Michael’s on the nkwth side should bo Gloucester Street, between Colombo Street and Antigua •Street, instead of Armagh Street, the object being ,to retain tbe boundary of St Luke’s parish as it was. Archdeacon Harper’s amendments were adopted, and the boundaries were fixed for the parishes named. Archdeacon Scott moved—“ That the Standing Committee -and the Church Property Trustees bo requested to take into their favourable oan&idea’atitom the proposals Contained in tbe report of the Commission on the Spiritual Heeds of Greater’ Christchurch, and to take such - action as they shall deem advisable.” Tno debate wjaa interrupted by the six o’clock,adjournment. At 7.>30 p.m. the Synod went into committee to resume consideration of a Bill to. sanction the amendment of the Church Property Trust Act, 1879. Tire Bid was reported and ordered to ho road a third time on Friday. Canon Pasco-o moved the second reading of a Bill to amend tire regulations for church day schools, with the object of providing taa* the vicar should have the direction and control of this religious teaching in his church day schools, 'and subject to bis approval in eacn case, the head teacher should have the power of expulsion. The Bill was read a second time and considered in committee, and the third reading was made an, order of tbe day for Friday. On the motion of Mr W. G. Britten the Bill to amend the Parish and Parish' Officers Statute was read a third time and passed. The Synod adjourned at 10 p.m. until 3 p.m. on the following day.
