Mr George Dash, coachbuilder, of Waimate, for many years secretary to the local No-lieenso, League, and corresponding representative of the Christchurch Progressive Liberal Association, has announced his candidature for the Waitaki seat, “ at the request of the leaders of the prohibition party and in the interests of political righteousness and clean government.” Mr R, Meredith, formerly member for Ashley, and now a resident of Waimate county, and .Mr Alfred Walker, a builder of Waimate and a member of the County Council, are also spoken of as probable candidates. Mr Dash is ■ expected to secure the prolnhition vote. The “Otago Daily Times” is given to understand that Mr J. T. Paul, who occupied a seat on the Land Commission, will be a candidate for Cavereham at the coming election.
