PORT CHALMERS LICENSING POLL.

[Per Press Association'.] DUNEDIN, June 22. Hearing of evidence in support of the petition to have the local option poll at Chalmers in 1802 declared void on the ground of irregularities, was continued to-day. With two exceptions the evidence v/as in respect to the Gardens booth* where most of the alleged irregularities are said to have occurred. The deputy-registrar of the Valley booth, who visited the Gardens booth during the day, did not approve of things there. ' A witness named Glossop said that during the afternoon he had got on a chair in the booth and publicly protested against the manner in, which things were conducted. A farmer at Pin© Hill, who could not wait at 2.30, owing to the crowded state of the booth, drove to the booth before seven, but found the door closed. He heard the town clock strike seven about three minutes after he found the door closed. Several witnesses deposed to getting only one voting paper at the booth, most of them having to ask for the second paper.
