During the storm 3Jin of rain fell in the city. Tho low-lying districts round Darling Jdai'bour suffered severely, ■ In some back streets tho water rose to a height of ten fe.ot, and many residents were flooded out. Tho polico rendered prompt aid in rescuing tho sufferers, and .the Government are providing thorn with shelter and assistance. Aluch damage was done to property, roads, warehouses and business places. The tram traffic in some suburbs was disorganised for a time, owing to the damage to the lines.
