MUNICIPAL MATTERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —During the five years I have resided in this city I have often been surprised at the lack of interest shown in municipal matters, and have heard various explanations of this attitude on the part of the electors. Have the methods of the candidates for the City Council anything to do with the matter? In my opinion they have, and I think it would be a good idea if a meeting was called in each ward at which time-expired councillors and aspirants for office could each address the meeting for a specified time, and then questions could he asked and answered. Interest in council matters and its policy would bo fostered, and the views of Councillors would be definitely known, instead of, as at present, electors having a more or less vague idea of the representatives and their principles.—l am, etc., SYDENH AMITE.
