Kelvin has undergone a serious operation. > AUSTRALIAN LEATHER. ■ Mr Lance, the New South Wales commerical agent, referring to the “ Chronicle’s ” cablegram, attributing the decline of the use of Australian leather in England to the leather being weighted with chloride of barium, states that the decline of shipments is the result drought and the opening of other markets. He declares that the leather now arriving gives satisifaction, and there is a good demand. If the Commonwealth legislation provides guarantees of the quality and weight of all perishable produce exported, it will b© in advance of any other country.
