THE BENEFIT FUND. Tho following snrbsc-riptiona have been- received at this office towards the fund' that is being raised by Mr Bert Boyle, to enable Miss Gertie Campion, who is now lying ill in Durban, to return to her friends in Australia.:—G. Dr Greenwoodl has written to' Mr Bert Royle offering to take Miss Campion into the Avon Pino Sanatorium on terms that would offer no financial difficulties. The doctor thinks from what he has heard of Miss Campion's ca'se that it is one that might be treated with entire success at the Sanatorium. Sir Joseph Ward, when seen by a. representative of the "Lyttelton Times" last night, expressed the wannest sympathy for Miss Campion. He said, in reply to a question, that there would be no obstacle to her admission to New Zealand if the should decide to come here for treatment. He would be very glad to facilitate her return in any way he could, and 1 to help in providing for her comfort. An " Ex-member of Polk-rd's Company " writes explaining that Mr Pollard- and his company did all they oodd for Miss Campion, while they were in South Africa. Tiie explanation was unnecessary. Mr Pollard wished to make arrangements nt his own expense for Miss Campion to return to her friends, but the medical authorities at Johannesburg refused to allow her to travel.
