The keeper of a billiard saloon in Port Chalmers was fined 2s- 6d, without costs, for keeping open after hours. Defendant pleaded guilty, but counsel urged that his client was not aware of the change in the law, and a copy of the statutes was only available quite recently. At the annual meeting of the Technical Classes Association, the number of students last year was reported to have been 775. There w : as a credit balance of £279. As the.accommodation ip the present building is inadequate, it wis made a recommendation to the Board otf Management to obtain a site from the Education Board, sell the present property, and with the proceeds erect a new building.
