The death is announced of Mr Edmund Ellingham, an Auckland . merchant, aged sixty-three. . Mr Henry AcHand ■was yesterday mom* ing admitted as barrister and solicitor, by Mr Justice Dennis ton. The following promotions of postmasters have been decided upon in addition to the appointment of Mr Gumming (Napier) and ■Mr Sheath (Hokitika) to be chief postmasters at Wellington and Napier respectively :—Mr St. George, from the Bluff to Hokitika 5 Mr Hester., from Kaiapoi to the ' Bluff; Mr Brown, from Paeroa to Kaiapoi j Mr Algie, from Arrowtown to Paeroa. Mr Cyril Ward made further good pw>» gress yesterday.
