UNVEILING THE STATUE of lier late Majesty Queen Victoria, will constitute one .of the most important events in the history of Christehurch. No effort will be spared to make the function a successful' one, and it is to be hoped that our popular Governor will be present to perform 'the ceremony. Several citizens have suggested that, should circumstances prevent Lord Ranfurly from' attending, Butcher should be approached in tho matter. But, while deeply appreciating the suggested honour, Butcher feels that, owing to the vast increase in the sale of his 18ct Gold Wedding Kings and the duties entailed thereby to the public of Christehurch, he will reluctantly be compelled 1« -yithhold tea otherwise ready consent. 1988
